My name is Charles Powell, the president of Details Interior Design. It is my privilege to share with you our design philosophy and to introduce you to the team.

Design is a journey from the mundane. You’ll need a good map, and we can provide it. Throughout the adventure you’ll have the support of the entire Details Interior Design studio. I’ll be your main point of contact. Together we’ll reach someplace exquisitely tasteful while steering clear of the pitfalls of inadequate planning or flashy distractions. You’ll find me a proficient, opinionated guide.

Whether you’re a homeowner trusting Details’ style sense or a developer enlisting us to provide interior design and merchandising for a multi-family community, you’ll have my undivided attention at every step. You’ll also get my unvarnished opinions, which I sometimes express a little colorfully. And I insist that you be candid with me. After all, it’s your space; I don’t have to live there. But I’ll treat it as seriously as if I did.

As we progress through development and design, we’ll share laughs and stories (some of them perhaps not so tasteful). And naturally a few disagreements and compromises, because sometimes we must take an alternate route to get where we truly wish to be.

In the process, I’ll be happy to share with you our knowledge about textiles, stone, art, why style is better than fashion, and the two proper ways to pronounce “patina.” In the end you’ll know everything about the pieces in your home, their provenance, and the decisions behind selecting them, because we selected them together. Your home, your style, our expertise.

If you’re a developer enlisting our services for model merchandising or adaptive reuse, you can be assured that Details takes an equal amount of care in space planning, color selection and furnishings tailored to your target market.

While I’m often seen as the face of Details Interior Design, I’m part of a four-person team. My design partner, Brent Buehler, has a world-class design aesthetic, a color-forward palette, a mastery of space and interior architecture, and a real eye for objet. He and I agree on nothing. That puts us in a position where we have to defend our choices to each other, ultimately leading to the best design solutions.

Supporting all aspects of the design studio, senior project manager Colette Booher has been part of our team for more than 25 years. She provides high-level administrative support and customer service while managing to maintain a remarkably low-key demeanor.

Our newest team member, Steve Mackechnie, soaks up design knowledge and wrings it out as constructive, new ideas. He keeps us up to date on changing technology, everything from lighting to drafting.

Nothing is presented to you without first being vetted by each of us. What you receive from Details is 90-plus years of collective design experience focused on tailoring your space to reflect your highest degree of personal style.

Welcome home.
